...Broken News... From Here to Eternity

"We are trying to find out what everything is made of; what we are made of; the smallest pieces inside us; every atom,"

"The LHC is just a bunch of magnets that steer the proton beams plus radio frequency cavities to accelerate them.
The amount of energy involved is miniscule. Similarly, the CMS is a magnet with a lot of sensors operating under a variety of voltages. Not much damage could be done there by diddling with the computer."
--University of Texas physicist Stephen Weinberg.

Coca-cola, choice of the old generation. They say if you leave a nail in a glass of the stuff it won't be there in a few days which might give some pause to consider what it's doing to your stomach. Then there's that whole business about artificial sweeteners and A.I.D.S. (or was it Alzheimer's Disease, I forget!). In any case the following came in the mail recently, warning that Coke may also be hazardous to your spiritual health.
"Too much sanity may be madness. But maddest of all, to see life as it is.....and not as it should be!"
--Don Quixote - Miguel de Cervantes

I've always been a closet believer that Judas couldn't have done what he's accused of having done. It's much easier for me to believe the new document than any of the Bible's versions. The whole thing brings to mind Samuel Beckett's Waiting For Godot (as we are celebrating the centenial of his birth) The scene in which they mention the four Gospels.
Vladimir: One of the four says that one of the two(thieves)was saved...Why believe him rather than the others?
Estragon: Who believes him?
Vladimir: Everyone. It's the only version they know.
Estragon: People are bloody ignorant apes.
The new discovery raises alot of questions about how the church propagates certain things and discards others. The Pope's response strengthens my dislike of religious rigidity. If we don't agree, we are lost misguided sheep.
Speaking of sheep (and Pigs) I just picked up and read a used copy of Orwell's Animal Farm. The main theme of which, I think, is suspose to be "All animals are equal; some more equal than others."
But what really grabbed my attention was the animals' willingness to believe anything they were told. Like we now; except for Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon, seem to believe what our leaders say "Iraq has WMD's" "Support for the Patriot Act will help fight terriorism" Give up your rights for the good of the country. (By the way , could there be a more Orwellian name than THE PATRIOT ACT) Again Waiting For Godot comes to mind:
Estragon: We've no rights anymore......we've lost our rights?
Vladimir: (distinctly) We got rid of them.
If I can tie Catch 22 into this I just saw it on HBO and was reminded what great ensemble acting is.
What a great cast headed by Alan Arkin. Jon Voight, Bob Newhart, Richard Benjamin, Paula Prentise, Jack Gilford( a Beckett actor) Anthony Perkins, Marty Balsam, Buck Henry, Martin Sheen, Art Garfunkle, Orson Wells. Each great!
All it needed was my favorite actor (Clint Howard) and it would have been perfect. I guess he's too young for Catch 22 but his time will come "The cat will mew and dog will have his day." His brother was probably still playing 'OPPIE' when it was made.
I hope the Pope agrees that Clint Howard is the preeminent actor of our day. If he doesn't agree with me then He's the lost misguided sheep.
Before I step down from my soapbox could we please have a moment of silence while we listen to the national anthem of the Republic Of China. (pause) .....snicker, snicker, chortle, chortle, gaffaw, gaffaw, gaffaw. Or is that gaffe, gaffe, gaffe?
I'll leave you with a few Hamlet thoughts:
"...the native hue of resolution (that is , natural determination to act. Hue meaning = outcry.)
is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought"
"Give me that man that is not passions slave , and I will wear him in my hearts core, ay, in my heart of heart"
(Thanks to Monkeyfinger Dave Clark)

A woman, while at the funeral of her own mother, met this guy whom she
did not know. She thought this guy was amazing, so much her dream guy
she believed him to be just that! She fell in love with him right there,
but never asked for his number and could not find him. A few days later
she killed her sister.
Question: What is her motive in killing her sister?

Laotians celebrate "pii mai" the Laos New Year, which involves copious quantities of water, alcohol, music and the odd bit of cross-dressing Pii Mai
In other news while I was on the road some little turd got in and hacked all six of my websites achieving little more than to reinforce the notion that those who cannot create, destroy. Laos is proably the least developed country in South East Asia however I was able to resurrect the site. The culprit in the meantime has been tracked down and electrodes were applied to his testicles.

Here's the thing. Three years ago I taught myself a bit of HTML code registered the domain http://www.insanitywetrust.com and came up with this lot. It's since come to my attention that I need to look into a content management system to facilitate site development. It's also come to my attention that I need to spend the next three months or so travelling through the north of Laos into southern China so updates will be few and far between. Until I get some minions I'm the sole idiot behind all this. Rest assured once southern China has been conquered and cms mastered abnormal transmission wll resume. In the meantime check out the archives, my other site http://www.travelsinasia.com our new project http://www.deadlineinternational.com featuring the investigative journalism of Ben Vidgen and feel free to contact us with your submissions and comments. ....in Kailahun District (Sierra Leone), women tell the story -- possibly apocryphal -- of an old woman who was huddled over her cooking fire when a group of rebels entered her village. She was frying some tasty frogs. The rebels surrounded her, peering into the pot to see what she was cooking, and one of them said: "We are freedom fighters of the Revolutionary United Front. We have come to save you from the government." The old woman -- unafraid -- replied: "Then you must go to the capital. The government is not in my pot."
Women in Kailahun District tell that story over and over, and they laugh every time. They are so proud of that lone, bold old woman who told off those rebel men. That's the spirit of survival, still alive in them -- though they must know that the rebels probably shot that old woman and ate her frogs.

Hotmail Sucks
O.K. so hotmail, myspace etc. provide a free service but it still rips your undies a bit to have your account deleted. There is some recourse for the disgruntled however.....
 | hotmailsucks.com is a site fueled by one punter's outrage at having his account deleted for an alleged abuse of TOU. Our protagonist is the creater of the Tourist of Death site at the heart of the whole matter. After encouraging one dissenter to "go punch (himself) in the balls" he found his account had been deleted. His site encourages submissions outlining your own dissatisfaction with hotmail or msn. |
